Relay teams lead Charles City girls, boys to fourth place finishes

Behind wins from their respective 4×100 meter relay teams, Charles City’s girls and boys’ track teams earned four place finishes during an Apr. 19 home meet.

On the boys’ side, the team of Cameron Vaden, Steven Williams Jr., Robert Dobson, and Jordan Cotman ran a time of 44.97 to easily win the event. Their time also automatically qualifies them for the VHSL Group 1A State championships.

Charles City’s boys scored 64 points, finishing behind meet winner King William (140), Cumberland (106), and Hampton Roads Academy (99). The Panthers finished ahead of Grove Christian (17) and Rappahannock (16).

In the girls’ competition, the quartet of Laina Brown, Jaelah Wyatt, Alexis Williams, and Aysia Wallace won the 4×100 relay with a time of 55.67.

The Lady Panthers accumulated 32 points, finishing behind King William (159), Hampton Roads Academy (140), and Rappahannock (92). Richmond Christian rounded out the scoring with six points.
