Letter to the Editor: Desires warning lights at railroad crossing in Lanexa
In light of recent train accidents off Rockahock Road, I was going to Walker’s Dam Grill on Valentine’s Day. As I approached the railroad crossing, I looked both ways and noticed lights coming from the east. It was very hard to see how far down the tracks the train was located since it was so dark, so I waited a few minutes.
The person behind me got out of his truck and asked me what I was waiting for. I told him a train was coming and I didn’t want to be like the truck that got hit recently by the Amtrak train. He left angrily and the person I was with told me the train was far enough away. I reluctantly sped across the tracks.
It sure would have been nice if this heavily traveled area had railroad crossing warning lights. What would you have done in this situation?
