Alice Whittaker Stewart

Alice Whittaker Stewart, 67, of Henrico, journeyed safely home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 29, 2019.

Alice was born in West Virginia and moved to New Kent County at an early age where she attended New Kent Schools and graduated as a member of New Kent’s “Class of 69.” She worked for Reynolds Metals Company, the law firm of Hunton, William, Gay, Powell, and Gibson law firm (now Hunton and Williams), and retired as an officer of Franklin Federal Savings and Loan (now Townebank).

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Blankenship Stephens and Charles Henry Whittaker; and stepfather, Harvey Wyatt Stephens Jr.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ernie Stewart; devoted sisters, Fran Boroughs (James), Shirley Painter, Beth Stephens, and Theresa Dowdy (Richard); paternal uncle, Bobby Whittaker of Arizona; maternal aunts, Joy Hill and Betty Whitlow (Tony), both of West Virginia; nieces, Christine Farnor and Allisa Sorrell; nephew, Jason Boroughs; close cousins, Donna Wiggins of Florida and Debbie Clark; along with other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, 12-2 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home Reception Center, 4660 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Virginia Cancer Institute, 6605 W. Broad Street, Suite A, Richmond, VA, 23230.
