Suspects arraigned, 18th arrest made in Charles City

Another arrest has upped the number of suspects to 18 in Operation Happy Holidays, the latest law enforcement assault on illegal drug trafficking in Charles City County. And the total number of charges involving those suspects has risen to 72.

Authorities arrested Ryan Jovan Brown, 24, of 6200 Sign Post Lane Apt. C in Charles City, on Nov. 20. Brown is charged with six counts of distributing crack cocaine and one count of conspiracy to distribute. He is being held without bond pending a Dec. 12 court appearance for appointment of counsel.

The other 17 suspects, all but one arrested on Nov. 13, appeared in Charles City Circuit Court for arraignments on Nov. 21. Most were granted bond while others remain held without bond. Tentative trial dates were scheduled for most.

The suspects and the charges they face plus bond amounts and tentative trial dates are:

–Robert J. Woodley, 24, of 7620 Courthouse Road, Charles City; 1 count of crack cocaine distribution (arrested on Nov. 17); $25,000 bond; Jan. 30 trial.

–Carneal C. Crewe, 35, of 11900 Green Oak Road, Charles City; 1 count of crack cocaine distribution; $25,000 bond; Jan. 9 trial.

–Antonio D. Black, 24, of 7300 Courthouse Road, Charles City; 2 counts of crack cocaine distribution; $50,000 bond; Jan. 6 trial.

–Kenneth L. Jones, 50, of 6201 Barnetts Road, Charles City; 1 count of crack cocaine distribution, 1 count of conspiracy; $25,000 bond; Dec. 19 trial.

–Andrew L. Brown, 47, of 8130 Church Lane, Charles City; 3 counts of crack cocaine distribution; no bond; Dec. 19 trial.

–Jarvis A. Barnes, 40, of 6020 Adkins Road, Charles City; 3 counts of crack cocaine distribution; no bond; Jan. 9 trial.

–Casey J. Crawley, 19, of 9601 Kimages Road, Charles City; 1 count of crack cocaine distribution, 1 count of conspiracy; $5,000 bond; Jan. 6 trial.

–Danny C. Cotman, 54, of 8200 Little Elam Road, Charles City; 13 counts of crack cocaine distribution, 7 counts of conspiracy; no bond; Jan. 30 trial.

–Sylvia D. Johnson, 40, of 9431 Little Elam Road, Charles City; 1 count of crack cocaine distribution; $10,000 bond; Jan. 23 trial.

–Antwan L. Charity, 29, of 10421 Courthouse Road, Charles City; 1 count of crack cocaine distribution, 1 count of conspiracy; $10,000 bond; trial date pending Dec. 12 court appearance for appointment of counsel.

–Stephen S. Cotman II, 19, of 8701 Adkins Road, Charles City; 10 counts of crack cocaine distribution, 2 counts of conspiracy; no bond; Jan. 30 trial.

–Michael O. Brown, 48, of 8921 Church Lane, Charles City; 1 count of crack cocaine distribution; $5,000 bond; Jan. 9 trial.

–Alden R. Johnson, 22, of 4230 Wayside Road, Charles City; 2 counts of crack cocaine distribution, 1 count of conspiracy; no bond; Jan. 23 trial.

–Timothy Little Jr., 23, of 12755 Tyler’s Ridge Court, Charles City; 1 count of ecstasy distribution; no bond; Jan. 9 trial.

–Sterling S. Barnes, 31, of 6132 Almond Creek Lane, Richmond; 3 counts of crack cocaine distribution, 1 count of conspiracy; no bond; Jan. 30 trial.

–Barbara A. Chandler, 37, of 7400 Lakeshore Drive, Quinton; 2 counts of crack cocaine distribution, 2 counts of conspiracy; no bond; Jan. 23 trial.

Sealed indictments on all 18 suspects were handed up on Nov. 4 by a county circuit court grand jury. The indictments remained sealed until arrests began on Nov. 13, the same day authorities conducted raids at three Charles City residences.
