New Kent teen to serve as leader for YADAPP summer conference
Alison Sant’Anna, an 18-year old student at East Carolina University and recent New Kent High School grad, will serve as a leader at the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s (ABC) Youth Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevent Project (YADAPP) teen leadership conference July 14-18 at Longwood University.
YADAPP is a youth-led program that empowers teens to become involved in keeping their communities alcohol and drug free. Hundreds of high school students gather annual at this event, which features workshops and presentations.
“YADAPP has given me a positive outlook on life,” said Sant’Anna. “I’ve earned that it is okay and acceptable to live above the influence and still have such a fun life.
Sant’Anna is in her sixth year in the program, but is in her first year in the leadership role. She is currently interning at the program as well.
