Heritage Public Library has received a second National Library of Medicine Grant.

The grant, in the amount of $22,900, will provide funds for the project “Health and Science Literacy Programs and Resources for the Rural Communities of Charles City and New Kent.” Funding will specifically target purchasing STEAM kits for families, health education themed board games and puzzles, and collection materials for all ages according to Heritage Public Library Director Chandra McPherson.

“We are very grateful for the opportunity for the opportunity from the National Library of Medicine to update and share the library’s vital science and health information and resources,” commented adult programming director Jan Marry. “Especially during COVID-19, we know how essential science and health information are to the people in our community.”

Heritage Public Library received its first National Library of Medicine Grant in the amount of $15,000 in June of this year.
