Lanexa man, charged with murder, indicted by New Kent grand jury

A Lanexa man has been formally indicted with a second-degree murder charge by a New Kent grand jury.

Michael Anthony Jenkins, 39, of the 15000 block of Pocahontas Trail, received indictments on one count each of second-degree murder, grand larceny, burglary, possession of a weapon by a non-violent felon, and two counts of firearm larceny.

In Dec. 2019, New Kent Sheriff’s Office received a call for service around 2 p.m. on Dec. 4. First responders arrived to the scene and located a male down. While medical aid was provided, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as Elmer Lee Stewart, a well-known and well-respected lifelong resident and businessman of New Kent County. He was 65 at the time of his death.

Jenkins was identified as a suspect later that night. He was being held on bond and is allegedly the man who committed the offenses. He currently remains incarcerated and is being held without bond.

In other indictments certified by the grand jury:

–Amber Dawn Marie Armstrong, 35, of the 13000 block of The Glebe Lane, Charles City, on a lone charge of possession of a controlled substance. Armstrong was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine on June 15, 2020.

–Robert B. Ashley-Wynn, 33, of the 2800 block of Douglas Avenue, Falls Church, and Brandon L. Freeland, 32, of the 2100 block of Brooks Drive, Forestville, Maryland, each on one count of misdemeanor illegal street racing. The two allegedly committed the offense on May 2, 2020.

–Brandon Alexander Black, 30, of the 3700 block of Quinton Road, Quinton, on two counts each of abduction and strangulation. The defendant allegedly committed the offenses against the same victim on two separate dates in August 2020.

–Nicholas Webster Cesare, 29, of the 18000 block of New Kent Highway, Barhamsville, on one count each of felony destruction of property and grand larceny. Cesare allegedly stole a Mercury motorboat belonging to Arthur Tegenburg on Sept. 1, 2020.

–Brittany Anne Crowell, 30, of the 7600 block of Lakeshore Drive, Quinton, one a lone count of making a bomb threat. The defendant allegedly committed the offense on Aug. 14, 2020.

–Eric Nathan El Dada, 27, of the 3600 block of Autumn Hill Lane, Quinton, on one count of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer. The offense allegedly took place on June 28, 2020.

–Evans Bright Garrett, 52, of the 9800 block of Candle Lamp Lane, Chesterfield, on one count of possession of a Schedule I/II substance. The defendant allegedly possessed Amphetamine on Apr. 24, 2020.

–Joseph Anthony Reyes, 38, of the 3200 block of Ginn Place, Woodbrige, on a single count of misdemeanor DUI (second offense). The offense allegedly took place on June 10, 2020.

–Avery T. Waterman III, 33, of the 2700 block of Patriots Landing Drive, Quinton, on a single charge of felony hit and run. The offense allegedly took place on Aug. 24, 2020.

–Jeremy William Webb, 29, of 5 East Lawn Drive, Hampton, on three counts of felony abduction, two counts of felony child abuse, two counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and one charge each of felony eluding of policy, misdemeanor reckless driving, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Webb allegedly fled from police while driving a car that was occupied by children on July 11, 2020.
