New Kent girls, boys place third at home cross-country meet
New Kent’s girls’ and boys’ cross-country teams orchestrated third place finishes at Tuesday afternoon’s home meet against Tabb and Warhill High School.
On the girls’ side, Lady Trojan teammates Rosie Gilbride and Charlotte Verdu finished back-to-back in sixth and seventh place with times of 23:13 and 23:55, respectively. Ashley Verdu also finished in the top ten, clocking a time of 25:02. Rounding up the scoring portion for the Lady Trojans were Brooke Swarringim (13th-25:45), and Campbell Proffitt (16th-26:13). Other finishers for New Kent were Mea Picone (27:41), Serra Swartout (28:44), and Caroline Carter (29:53).
On the boys’ side, New Kent’s Isaac Lamprecht was the top performer, clocking in a time of 19:00 to finish in eighth place. Teammate Will Ashley squeaked into the top ten, accumulating a time of 19:07. Other scorers for the Trojans were Parker Hinks (17th-20:08), Jack Porter (23rd-22:09), and Logan Rooks (24th-22:16). Tommy Meyer was the other runner for New Kent, clocking in a time of 23:56.
