Alleged Adkins Store robber indicted by Charles City grand jury

A man who allegedly robbed Adkins Store on multiple occasions in Charles City has been indicted by a Charles City grand jury.
Michael Robert Deremer II, 30, of the 7400 block of Lewis Tyler Lane, Charles City, received a total of three indictments of breaking and entering, and three indictments of petty larceny (third or subsequent offense).
On Dec. 28, 2020, a report of an overnight robbery of Adkins Store was reported to Charles City County’s Sheriff’s Office. A month later, on Jan. 19, 2021, a second robbery had taken place at the store. A detective working the case surveyed video footage that showed the suspect and a possible vehicle that was on scene during the time of the crime. Deremer was interviewed by the detective and was arrested on the alleged crimes.
Deremer’s trial is tentatively scheduled for June 25. In other indictments certified by the grand jury:
–Nipun Chhabra, 24, of the 5100 block of Hunters Creek Place, Suffolk, on a lone count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Chhabra allegedly possessed the illegal substance on Nov. 14, 2020.
–Ethan White-Cook, of Providence Forge, on a single count of sexual penetration with an object on a minor. The offense allegedly took place in 2011.
