Williams racks up four wins at Northampton track and field meet; Lady Panthers finish third, boys second

Charles City Lady Panther Alexis Williams orchestrated four wins in Friday’s three-team track and field meet at Northampton High School.

Williams posted victories in the girls’ long jump (13’9½”), triple jump (32’7½”), shot (23’2”), and discus (55’5”). She also added runner-up finishes in the high jump (4’8”) and 100-meter hurdles (21.71).

Williams accumulated 26 points, good enough to place Charles City third at the meet. Northampton’s Lady Yellow Jackets won with 46 points, and Mathews Lady Blue Devils finished second with 36 points.

On the boys’ side, Charles City’s D’Angelo Smith racked up two wins for the Panthers as they finished second at the meet.

Smith notched victories in the boys’ high jump (5’6”) and the 200-meter dash (25.07). Freshman Justin Post-Parada earned his first victory of the season by winning the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:35.94.

The Panthers scored 40 points to earn the silver spot. Mathews won the meet with 76 points, and host Northampton placed third with eight points.
