Barber lone winner as New Kent finishes fifth at Bay Rivers track meet
New Kent’s Isaac Barber won the boys’ triple jump as the Trojans placed fifth at the May 19 track meet at York.
Barber leaped 41’9½” to take first place in the event. He added a second-place finish in the boys’ long jump with a distance of 19’2½”.
New Kent accumulated 53.5 points at the meet. Grafton won the meet with 177.5 points, while Tabb finished second with 92 points, and Smithfield rounded out the top three with 82 points.
On the girls’ side, New Kent accumulated 57 points at the meet for a sixth-place finish. Tabb captured first place with 166.5 points, with Bruton (77) and Grafton (76) finishing second and third, respectively.
