Editorial: Preparation is the best tool to keep us all safe and sane
Preparation is the best tool to keep us all safe and sane. The world is unpredictable with diseases, weather events, terrorism (both domestic and abroad), and the zombie apocalypse (which is listed on the Center of Disease and Control’s website for some strange reason).
The thing we must do is prepare. Grocery stores will have what you need. We need to sock up and then do it again. Do not wait until it is too late. We have seen the scares in the past year. Preparation is the name of the game.
Stock up on canned goods, water, flashlights, first aid kids, hygiene products, and so much more. The bottom line is that this short list can be longer. However, you need to pack for the essentials. As people and a community, we do think about the worst at times. The worst is depressing to think about.
The truth is sometimes we can be overly positive in today’s culture through social media and other parts of life. The truth is the truth, and this hard truth could save your life. Something bad will happen again and we do not know if it’s on a small scare or a big-time scale.
If you’re a registered gun owner, you are right on schedule. You have the right to bear arms, and you need to have one if you do. We live in times of the unknown. Protect yourself and your family by any means. This does not mean live in fear. It simply means living in a realistic form so that you can be comfortable knowing that you have done everything you were supposed to do in case the next disaster happens.
We just had a short gas shortage that could have been devastating. The next time we might not be so lucky. Prepare, be safe, and pray.
