Editorial: We must take accountability for our actions
We must take accountability for our actions. Just like we take credit for our wins, we must do the same for our losses.
This subject is very deep to me because at one time in life, I felt like a victim. I felt like the world owed me something. I felt like the color of skin was the end all be all to everything. These thoughts came as the result of the wrong influences and listening to the wrong people.
I am not here telling you that my race is still not an issue. I am saying that it is no longer a crutch that holds me down. I frankly do not care what other people think of me. I work hard, I take charge, and I do what I need to make sure that I have what need in life.
We all must look in the mirror at one time or another and acknowledged that we are the problem. It gets to the point where you need to stop blaming others for your screw-ups. I understand that we all go through things in life and that is fine. We have lingering issues that will bother us throughout our lives, but excuses mean nothing in the real world. That is the problem with today’s culture. No matter how much we progress in society, the real world will hit you in the face and give you a dose of reality.
I am better as an individual now. I stopped being a fake victim of the world and took control of my life. You all should as well. This is the only way the world will get better and progress. We all have 24 hours in a day. We all have seven days in a week. Are you going to waste it?
It is your choice to make a way. Stop blaming the world. Stay educated, informed, and continue to work towards a better tomorrow.
