Editorial: Fighting through adversity and overcoming self-made obstacles

By Robb Johnson | December 7, 2021 11:28 pm

I want to discuss adversity and how people can overcome it in this day and time where accountability seems to be at an all-time low.

The word “failure” can be a dirty word to people because the word can mean losing your livelihood or even being embarrassed in the eyes of others. However, failure is not a terrible thing if you continue to work hard and strive to be your best.

The issue is people not taking responsibility for their actions and blaming others for their downfall. Nothing that you do in life will be easy. We would all like to think that things are easy. The bottom line is the universe does not work like this. If it did, we would all be rich and living a good life.

We must remember the world has been in existence for so long that there is a universal rule that nothing will come easy to you. People are born with gifts that help them propel to the top faster. But for many individuals, we need to work harder to get there. It does not matter how the world advances with technology. The key to having anything in life is working hard along with working in a smart way to accomplish your goals.

Successful people have felt that pain of overcoming adversity while struggling and not having the resources they need to get where they want to be. However, what are you going to do to overcome your issues and make solutions out of it is entirely up to you.

I do not care what you are doing in life. If you want to become anything, it takes dedication. Crying to your parents or your best friend every time things do not go your way is not going to get things done. This is a mechanism that just provides you with excuses. You did not get the job done. What are you going to do to improve yourself? While you are complaining and blaming the world, the next person is passing you by and making their goals happen.

My overall message is that through adversity and tough times, you will not always be on top. But your dedication and mental strength, along with your ability to have a never say die attitude, will one day help you accomplish your goals even if you do not get everything you want. If you have strived and given 100 percent in everything you did, no one can ever question your dedication to whatever your craft is. That is something that money will never be able to buy.
