A Providence Forge man has been formally found guilty on two charges related to larceny and fraud in Charles City County.

Charles Lloyd White, 50, of the 7600 block of Courthouse Road, was rendered guilty verdicts on one count each of credit card larceny and misdemeanor credit card fraud.

On Feb. 27, 2020, White was residing with a family member in Charles City when he intercepted a piece of mail that belonged to another member of his family. Inside the envelope was a credit card, and White used that card to make purchases at the Dollar General in the county. After an investigation, he was arrested on the two charges.

During a June 5, 2020 trial, White was sentenced to the First Offender program where if he completed it successfully, the credit card larceny charge would be reduced to a misdemeanor. However, White was kicked out of a drug rehabilitation class that he was required to complete as part of the First Offender program and also tested positive for drugs at a later date, therefore violating the terms and conditions.

A presentence report is being prepared for White, with formal sentencing scheduled for Mar. 1. He is also facing additional charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle and misdemeanor disobeying a court order.

In an unrelated case, a Charles City man successfully completed therapy and saw a felony charge reduced stemming from a 2019 charge.

Nathan Wallace Dill, 29, of the 18000 block of The Glebe Lane, received formal sentencing on one count each on a reduced charge of misdemeanor assault and battery (originally abduction) and misdemeanor damaging a phone line.

During a Dec. 13, 2019 incident, a woman called 9-1-1 for help and said that a man wouldn’t leave. She also reported that the man was suicidal. An officer arrived and the woman said she tried to leave but the man, now identified as Dill, blocked the door and prevented her from leaving. Dill was arrested on the charges.

Dill successfully completed the terms of a plea agreement, being sentenced to 90 days with all time suspended on each of the two charges.
