North Carolina man arrested in New Kent on sex crimes against a minor

A North Carolina man has been arrested for several crimes against a minor that include rape.
Jose Martinez Marmolejo, 25, of Fayetteville, was arrested on charges that include rape, production of child pornography, abduction, and additional serious related charges to crimes against a minor according to a press release from New Kent Sheriff’s Office.
The press release said that on Feb. 26 around 9:40 a.m., New Kent Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an 11-year-old female who had run away from the residence that is located in the eastern part of the county. During the investigation, it was revealed that the juvenile may be in the company of a male that she was communicating with through a social media platform.
The 11-year-old victim was located with the 25-year-old male, identified as Marmolejo, at a motel within the county. The juvenile victim was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
According to the release, Marmolejo had traveled to New Kent from North Carolina to make contact with the victim. Marmolejo was taken into custody before a magistrate at Henrico Regional Jail East a nd is currently being held without bond.
New Kent Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is still ongoing and that additional charges are pending.
