Lady Trojans settle for second at Bay Rivers District track meet

New Kent’s Lady Trojans accumulated 93 points on their way to finishing second at the Mar. 31 home meet featuring Bay Rivers District opponents.
Julia Hathaway won the girls’ 100-meter dash with a time of 12.93 and the girls’ long jump with a distance of 15’5½” . She added a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash by clocking a time of 27.15. Ara Buchman took the top mark in the girls’ triple jump with a leap of 32’2”, while Amy Rudolph’s clearance of 8’0” in the girls’ pole vault was good enough for third. Relay teams saw the girls’ 4×100 finish in first (53.50), the 4×400 place second (4:24.32), and the 4×800 place third (10:51.68).
Tabb won the event with 131 points, while Grafton’s total of 85 placed them in third.
On the boys’ side, New Kent put together a 37-point performance to finish eighth in the meet.
Isaac Lamprecht finished as runner-up in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:56.77. Markus Sydnor tied a career best 11’6” in the pole vault, finishing with a silver medal in the event. The boys’ 4×800 meter relay team ran a time of 8:56.05, resulting in a third-place finish in the event.
Grafton won the boys’ contest with 158 points. Tabb finished second with 109.5, while Warhill earned the bronze with 77 points.
