Over 400 cadets from 43 high schools in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia learned the value of team work during “JCLC Camp Mountain.”

Charles City Cadets attending the camp were Brandon Bulheller, Brandon Collie, Alex Daniels, Sammatha Hodges and John Hoffman. The two JROTC instructors from CCHS, Sgt. 1st Class Steward Greene and Lt. Col. Vernon Peters, accompanied the cadets to and assisted in daily instruction.

During Camp Mountain, the cadets repelled from a 40-foot tower, maneuvered through an obstacle course and practiced land navigation, first aid training, aquatic training and completed a leadership reaction course.

Campers began their day at 6 a.m. and were kept extremely active until 9 p.m. each day. The cadets participated in daily precision drills sports and even got a chance to experience survival swimming training at the local community pool.
