Charles City High School’s Solar Team wins state championship

Charles City High School’s Solar Team won the State Solar Championship this past weekend.

The team of Tia Armstead, Kayla King, and Henry Lotz won the competition held at Virginia State University. The team constructed a solar-powered snowplow that was praised by the judges. The team also received the “People’s Choice Award” from their peers and won a check for $300.

The group captured the regional championship in early April at Old Dominion University.
