Charles City’s Coney finishes tenth in girls’ triple jump at state championship meet
Charles City’s Nevaeh Coney finished tenth in the girls’ triple jump at the Group 1A Outdoor State Track and Field Championships held June 3-4 at James Madison University in Harrisonburg.
Coney leaped 32’0” in the competition to earn her position in the top ten. She ran a season best 1:08.03 in the girls’ 400-meter dash to finish 15th, and placed 20th in the girls’ long jump with a distance of 13’4”.
Lady Panther teammate Janiya Washington ran a personal best of 1:06.45 in the girls’ 400-meter dash, finishing 11th at the meet, while teammate Surayyah Tinsley ran a time of 1:00.10 to finish 14th in the girls’ 300-meter dash.
Charles City’s Lady Panthers did not score in the competition. Patrick Henry of Glade Spring won the boys’ competition, while the Auburn girls’ captured the state trophy.
