Lamprecht finishes second in two events at Bay Rivers indoor track and field championships

New Kent’s Isaac Lamprecht finished as runner-up in two events as the Trojans indoor track and field team placed seventh in the Bay Rivers District Championship meet held Feb. 3 at the Boo Williams Complex in Hampton.

Lamprecht earned silver in the 1600-meter run (4:36.16) and 3200-meter run (9:37.84). Teammates Ryan Wright and Ellis Branch also earned silver medals, with Wright going 8.86 in the 55-meter hurdles, and Branch leaping 41’6” in the boys’ triple jump.

New Kent’s boys scored 41 points in the meet. Grafton captured the boys’ team title.

On the girls’ side, New Kent accumulated 18 points to finish in ninth overall.

Gabrielle Butler earned scoring places for the Lady Trojans, finishing fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 31’5½”, and sixth in the 300-meter dash with a time of 44.73. Teammate Madison Johnson finished fourth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:29.70, while Canyah Byrd heaved the shot put 28’1”, good enough for a sixth-place finish. The remaining points came from the girls’ 4×400 relay team consisting of Johnson, Butler, Lauren Walker, and Chelsea Thompson, who finished in seventh-place with a time of 4:31.84.

Warhill emerged with the championship on the girls’ side.
