On the ballot are two newcomers vying for the vacancy being left behind by current Charles City County treasurer Mindy Bradby. Kourtney Brown and LaWanda Christian have entered their names as candidates for the position.
Only one other position in Charles City will be contested in the upcoming election. The District 3 seat on Charles City’s Board of Supervisors will be up for grabs, as incumbent Byron Adkins Sr. will be challenged by Martha “Mag” Harris, who is forgoing her spot on Charles City’s School Board to run.
Charles City will see a plethora of newcomers fill voids in uncontested races this year. Current Charles City County Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Tyler Klink will run unopposed for the top position, as Rob Tyler has selected not to campaign.
Charles City’s Board of Supervisors will have new representatives as District 1 leader Gilbert Smith and District 2 leader Bill Coada are not campaigning for re-election. Currently, Ryan Patterson has submitted his name for District 1, while Michael Hill has chosen to run for the District 2 seat.
Incumbents that are running for an additional term unopposed are Victoria Cox-Washington as Clerk of Charles City Circuit Court, Rodney Tyler as the District 2 representative to Charles City’s School Board, and Joy Harris and Royce Paige as at-large members to the school board.
