Honoring Supervisor Smith at fire station

Charles City District 1 Supervisor and current board chairman Gilbert Smith (center) receives a plaque that signifies the naming of the new firehouse in his honor during a Sept. 26 presentation at Charles City’s Board of Supervisors meeting. Smith will be ending his 32-year tenure on the board as he is not seeking re-election. The ribbon-cutting for the new fire station is scheduled for Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. Smith is accompanied by Assistant Fire Chief George Bridges (left) and Charles City Fire & EMS Chief James Johnson.
