Three first quarter goals were adequate enough to provide New Kent’s Lady Trojans enough room to defeat Northumberland 6-0 in the Oct. 11 Senior Night field hockey contest.
Just four minutes into the contest, New Kent’s Bailey Borszich converted an easy score for the Lady Trojans. Two minutes later, Regan Smith found the back of the net for another score. With 47 seconds remaining in the opening frame, Olivia Allen punched in a goal to provide the hosts a 3-0 comfortable lead. That score would remain the same until halftime.
After the intermission break, New Kent received a pair of goals from Lily Ohlschlager and a second goal from Allen to double their advantage.
New Kent Lady Trojans Head Coach Cristen Sickal spoke about the victory.
“We won and I’m happy for it,” she commented. “But we could have played better and we have a lot to clean up.
“Our last game is going to be huge against Lafayette,” Sickal added. “It is a rivalry and finishing our season with an even record of 8-8 will be huge.”
The Lady Trojans improve to 7-8 on the season.
