Providence Forge man receives 20-year prison sentence for crimes with minor

A Providence Forge man will spend 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to several charges relating to crimes with a minor following Monday morning proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court.
Christopher Thomas Tinsley entered guilty pleas to two counts of sodomy, two counts of sexual penetration with an object, and one charge each of rape and carnal knowledge.
Five counts of violation of a parent or guardian in care of child 15 years old or less, one charge of abduction, two counts of rape, and one count of felony child abuse
A summary of evidence was not provided, as the judge ordered all parties not involved in the case outside of the courtroom. New Kent Commonwealth’s Attorney Scott Renick commented that no information would be provided to the public due to the age of the victim.
Tinsley received a 50-year sentence with 30 years suspended (20 years to serve) on one count of the sodomy conviction. Fifty years each on the second count of sodomy, rape conviction, both sexual penetration with an object convictions, and 10 years on the carnal knowledge were all suspended.
In other circuit court matters:
–Joshua David Butler, 35, of the 15000 block of NE 49th Lane, Williston, Florida, entered a guilty plea to one count each of malicious assault and assault on a law enforcement officer. One count of felonious assault on a law enforcement was dropped.
In a summary of evidence, New Kent deputies responded to a call for service of an individual possibly intoxicated in public outside of a local Pit Stop convenience store. When a Virginia State trooper responded to assistance, the individual, identified as Butler, attacked the trooper, causing stitches. The New Kent deputy was struck in the back of his head, falling to the ground and injuring his shoulder. Eventually, Butler was taken into custody.
Butler received a 20-year sentence with 15 years, six months suspended (four years, six months to serve) on the assault on a law enforcement conviction. He received a five-year sentence with all but six months suspense on the malicious assault conviction.
–Justice Shane Whitlow, 32, of Sandston, entered a guilty plea to one count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug.
In a summary of evidence, Whitlow was caught with a wrapped lottery ticket that had cocaine inside of it. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Whitlow received a 10-year sentence with all time suspended. He was ordered to complete the Henrico Drug Court program as part of his sentence.
