New Kent’s Lamprecht captures 3200-meter state title at Group 3A Indoor State Track & Field championships
New Kent High School Senior Isaac Lamprecht captured a gold medal at the Group 3A State Indoor Championships held Feb. 26-27 at Liberty University.
Lamprecht won the boys’ 3200-meter run, clocking a time of 9:17.40 to emerge victorious in the field. Teammate Ryan Wright also found a spot on the podium, finishing third in the boys’ pole vault with a clearance of 14’0”.
New Kent scored 16 points, good enough to finish 13th at the state championship competition. Western Albermarle won the competition with 52 points.
On the girls’ side, Madison Johnson was the lone scorer for the Lady Trojans’ team at the state meet.
Johnson earned a seventh-place finish in the girls’ 1000-meter run with a time of 3:03.15.
The Lady Trojans earned two points, finishing 31st at the meet.
