Taking advantage of only seven hits, New Kent’s Lady Trojans completed a season sweet of the Tabb Lady Tigers.
New Kent cruised to a 14-2 victory over Tabb, marking their eighth victory of the year by double digits.
The first two innings were slow as New Kent held a one-run lead entering into the third inning. After holding Tabb scoreless in the top of the frame, New Kent pushed across five runs in the bottom of the fifth with hits by Brooklyn Wiles and Hannah Tober.
Tabb cut the lead to sixth but it would be Tober stepping up again. Her two-run home run over the left field wall upped New Kent’s advantage to eight (10-2). Teammate Abbie Kegler followed suit, crushing a long ball of her increase the Lady Trojans’ lead to a point where they would win via mercy rule.
New Kent’s record improves to 11-3 on the season.
