The 2025 season has been a struggle for New Kent High School’s boys’ soccer team. And each contest comes another challenge for the youthful Trojans.

The Trojans fell 6-1 to the visiting Lafayette Rams during May 16 home contest, sending the team to their tenth consecutive setback.

While the hosts started off strong on the defensive presence, Lafayette eventually broke through with a goal with 23:50 remaining in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, they scored goal number two, with a third point coming roughly a minute later. By the halftime break, Lafayette held a 3-0 lead.

New Kent’s bright spot came in the second half as Alvaro Laguillo notched a goal to draw the hosts closer. But three more goals in the contest were too much for the Trojans to overcome as they fell.

The Trojans’ record now stands at 2-11-2.
