Lady Panthers score 90 points, place third in Tidewater District Championships

Charles City’s Lady Panthers amassed 90 points en route to finishing third at the Tidewater District Track & Field Championships held on May 22 on their home track.

Derequa Johnson and Jaida Braxton shined in multiple events for Charles City. Braxton took home gold in the girls’ 100-meter dash (13.04) and silver in the 200-meter dash (27.28). Johnson was a double winner, finishing first in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles (15.98) and girls’ triple jump (35’6”), while also earning silver in the 100-meter dash (13.08) and bronze in the 200-meter dash (27.54). Braxton was joined by Jewel Otey, Madison Bradby, and Ke’Asia Meekins to place third in the girls’ 4×100 meter relay (55.22).

On the boys’ side, Charles City garnered its only points from Brendan Babb in the 400-meter dash. Babb ran a time of 1:01.63 in the event, placing seventh. Charles City scored two points in the meet.

King William’s girls team won the district title with 143 points, while Middlesex coasted to the boys’ title with 204 points.
