Savage leads New Kent cross country to states

Austin Savage ran 17:00.2 and finished sixth overall as the New Kent Trojans team finished in fourth at the Region I Cross Country meet to qualify for the Group AA cross country track and field championships.
New Kent grabbed the last team qualifying spot with 118 points. They finished behind Bay Rivers District counterparts Lafayette (35) and Jamestown (74) who finished first and second respectively. Courtland edged out the Trojans for the third spot with 112 points.
Helping New Kent to its fourth place finish in the regional championships were Andrew Carlin (26th-17:59.2), Tyler Brightwell (31st-18:06.7), Tanner Smith (32nd-18:12.5), and Michael Scorsone (35th-18:17.1). Joining them will be Christopher Rolince (39th-18:21.5) and Ben Johnston (46th- 18:39.5).
The Group AA cross country championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Great Meadow, The Plains, VA. Scheduled time for AA boys to begin is 12:30 p.m.
