New Kent County Public Schools earn On Track, Distinguished designations under new performance framework

New Kent County Public Schools announced that each school in the division has earned an On Track or a Distinguished designation under Virginia’s new School Performance Framework.

George Watkins Elementary, Quinton Elementary, and New Kent High School were among schools recognized for being distinguished. New Kent Elementary and New Kent Middle School were recognized as schools On Track.

The achievement demonstrates the school district’s commitment to continuous improvement, as the district as a whole improved from 34th to ninth overall in the past four years in statewide Standards of Learning (SOL) testing.

All five schools in New Kent are fully accredited, and the school district is one of five in Region 1 to receive either the On Track or Distinguished designations.

“Recognitions like this reflect what happens when our incredible educators and leaders think strategically and work together,” commented New Kent County Public Schools Director of Innovation and Development Ross Miller. “When we lean into innovation and support our teams, we open doors for all students to grow and thrive.”
