Charles City Volunteer Fire and EMS receives $10,000 grant
Charles City Volunteer Fire and EMS received a grant from State Farm to assist with purchasing much-needed equipment.
State Farm made a $10,000 donation to the department through the State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program. In collaboration with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), Charles City Volunteer Fire and EMS was one of 150 volunteer fire departments to receive the grant.
“This grant came at the perfect time, allowing us to add some much-needed safety equipment, purchase critical lifesaving EMS supplies, and replace damaged and outdated equipment and PPE,” commented Charles City Volunteer Fire and EMS Chief Spencer Tuftee. “Our department is doing the best it can, working primarily off grants and fundraising as funding form the county is just enough to cover insurance costs.”
Charles City Volunteer Fire and EMS plans to purchase safety and operational equipment that includes rescue helmets, structural gloves, safety vests, emergency scene signage, rescue stretchers, AED pads, and water extinguishers.
