A Providence Forge man stipulated to evidence that will convict him of driving under the influence.

Brian Robert Satterwhite, 37, of the 2200 block of S. Landing Road, entered the stipulation as part of Monday proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court.

In a summary of evidence provided by New Kent Commonwealth’s Attorney Scott Renick, on Mar. 15, 2025, a New Kent deputy noticed a vehicle crossing double yellow lines several times in the area of Rockahock and Allen Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Satterwhite. The deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol and asked Satterwhite to perform field sobriety tests. The defendant performed poorly on the tests and was placed into custody. It was determined that the defendant’s blood-alcohol content level was .23, nearly three times the legal limit.

Under the agreement, the defense will have the opportunity to argue that Satterwhite’s offense was a second DUI (which is a misdemeanor) compared to a third DUI, which is the felony he is currently being charged. If he is convicted on the felony DUI offense, he will receive a five-year sentence with all but six months suspended. Formal sentencing for Satterwhite is scheduled for May 18.

In other circuit court proceedings:

–Shaheim Divine Allen, 26, was formally sentenced on an amended charge of misdemeanor eluding (originally felony eluding).

During a Dec. 15, 2025 trial, evidence presented during the trial showed that on Jan. 20, 2025, Allen was pulled over for speeding. When the Virginia State Trooper discovered Allen was unable to drive due to having a suspended license, he advised the defendant that the vehicle was going to be towed. As the flatbed prepared to load the defendant’s vehicle to be towed, Allen got into his vehicle and sped from the scene. A chase ensued with officers successfully executing a rolling roadblock a few miles away from the initial scene.

Allen apologized to the court and was sentenced to 12 months in jail with all but one month suspended on the misdemeanor conviction. He must also pay a fine of $200.

–Samantha Kay Johnson, 39, of the 8400 block of Old Roxbury Road, Quinton, entered a guilty plea to possession of a Schedule I/II substance.

In a summary of evidence, on May 22, 2025, a New Kent deputy on patrol on Old Roxbury Road noticed a vehicle connected to one Johnson operated. The officer had previous information that Johnson was suspended and executed a traffic stop. Johnson admitted to the officer that she should not have been driving, and the officer asked if she had anything illegal in the vehicle before it was towed. Johnson admitted that she had a smoking pipe, which the officer located and sent off to the forensics lab. The substance on the pipe was methamphetamine, and Johnson was charged for the offense.

Under the agreement, Johnson received a five-year sentence with all time suspended on the possession of a Schedule I/II drug conviction. She also received a one-year sentence with all time suspended for violating terms of probation.

–Joel Austin Marrow, 42, of Richmond, entered a guilty plea to a single count of possession of a Schedule I/II substance.

In a summary of evidence, on June 17, 2024, Virginia State Police conducted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle that Marrow was driving. Upon approaching the vehicle, the trooper noticed a white substance in the center console. That substance was sent to the forensics lab and returned positive for being cocaine.

Marrow received a 10-year sentence with nine years, 10 months suspended (two months to serve). He must also pay a fine of $1,500.

–Zachary Steven Martin, of Quinton, had a single charge of possession of a Schedule I/II substance dismissed after successfully completing the First Offender Program.

–Rene Nathaniel Woodson, 40, of the 2800 block of Valley Side Court, Richmond, entered a guilty plea to a single count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug as part of a plea deal.

In a summary of evidence, on Apr. 28, 2025, a New Kent Deputy received a call for service from Bottom Bridge Tire about an individual who was recently hired. The individual, later identified as Woodson, had taken a vehicle without permission. The officer was able to locate Woodson when he returned to the business and executed a traffic stop. The defendant was questioned about taking the vehicle and consented to a search. The deputy located a folded-up lottery ticket with a white powder on it when Woodson was searched. The defendant was placed under arrest, with subsequent tests revealing the substance to be cocaine.

Under the plea agreement, Woodson received a 10-year sentence with all time suspended. He must pay a fine of $1,500.
