Brenda Lampkin Johnson

Brenda Lampkin Johnson, 74, of Charles City, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2026. She was born May 31, 1951, to Audrey Whitlock Lampkin and Vincent Woodrow Lampkin.

Brenda enjoyed a long and successful career, working for 28 years at Atlantic Bulk Carrier. While she took pride in her work and accomplishments, nothing meant more to her than her family, who were always the center of her life.

Brenda was known for her caring and selfless nature. She loved taking care of those around her and was always positive, cheerful, and kind to everyone she met. Her warmth and generosity touched many lives.

Family was the center of Brenda’s life. Some of her happiest memories were made at Smith Mountain Lake, where she loved bringing everyone together to laugh, relax, and create lasting memories. She also treasured the special girls trips she shared with her daughters and granddaughters—times filled with joy, laughter, and the kind of moments that brought their family even closer together.

For 56 years, Brenda and her beloved husband, George Michael Johnson, shared a life filled with love, family, and countless cherished moments.

Brenda is survived by her daughters, Tracy Berryhill (Rick), Shannon Towles (Jason), Diane Saffell (Fletcher), and Mary Matney (Michael). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hunter and Bryan Berryhill; Zachary and William (Colleen) Towles; Kaitlyn and Casey Saffell; and Ella and Wade Matney.

She is also survived by her brother, Milton Lampkin (Franki), and her loving nieces, Erin and Sarah, daughters of the late Ellen Lampkin, with whom Brenda shared a special and cherished bond, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Audrey Lee.

Brenda will be remembered for her deep love of family, her strength, and the care she showed to everyone around her. Her kindness, positivity, and unwavering love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
