Stewart appointed as District 1 representative to New Kent School Board
Jessica Stewart has been appointed to New Kent’s School Board as the District 1 interim representative.
The appointment came during the school board’s May 4 meeting. Stewart is replacing Keith Pagano, who vacated the position due to his relocation to District 2.
“I am excited for this new opportunity to serve my community as the newly appointed District 1 School Board Member for New Kent County Public Schools,” Stewart said in a press release. “I am incredibly grateful and deeply humbled by the support and encouragement I have received from the community over the last week.”
Stewart taught in the New Kent County Public School system for eight years. She holds a Master of Arts in Education and has served on many committees within the district, both as a teacher and a parent.
“I am committed to working alongside Superintendent Dr. (Brian) Nichols and my fellow school board members to ensure our district remains focused on supporting our outstanding students and staff,” she added. “New Kent County Public Schools continue to make great strides in fulfilling its mission of preparing students for success in employment, enlistment, and enrollment. I look forward to contributing to the meaningful work and serving our community with dedication and integrity.”
Stewart will occupy the seat until the end of the calendar year. A special election for the District 1 seat is scheduled for the November election.
