Peter Gregory Daniel

Peter Gregory Daniel, born April 18, 1964, was called home to a heavenly construction project on April 7, 2026, at age 61.

Peter grew up in a little house on Darbytown Road and attended Varina Elementary and played football (left tackle) for the Varina Yellow Jackets. He later moved with his family to New Kent where he graduated in the Class of 1982. Peter was an active man who loved the outdoors and spent many much of his youth hunting and fishing at Roxbury on the Chicahominy. He loved French toast and ice cream and worked around the Colonial Family Restaurant with his family. He loved to make things with his hands and learned carpentry from builder Glen Cagwin, later forming his own company Daniel Builders.

After high school Peter married Lisa Trimmer, and they built many homes, barns and buildings and eventually moved with their young family and business to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Peter transitioned into semi-retirement, building a ranch in Wilkesboro, North Carolina and started raising Fine Scottish Highland cattle.

A Christian man like his father before him, Peter helped others generously offering his time knowledge and resources for those in need. During recent storms in his community, Peter spent many days helping others dig out and rebuild with his tractor. People from store clerks to his neighbors knew him by his broad smile and his generous heart.

Waiting in heaven for Peter’s arrival were his father Willie Daniel Jr., and his mother Rita Helena Daniel and his sister Gina Daniel Lackey. He is survived by his beloved daughter Kelly Lou Daniel, his sister Brigitta Daniel Jones (Tom), brothers Stuart L. Daniel (Deanna) and Mark S. Daniel (Lexia), and beloved nephew, Hunter J. Lackey, and many nieces and nephews, friends and acquaintances

A celebration of his life will be held at Memorial Methodist Church located at 11000 Courthouse Road, Charles City, Va., 23030, on May 30, 2026, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends and guests at a reception at the church following the service.
