Charles City’s Johnson wins triple jump regional title; Lady Panthers place ninth

Charles City’s Derequa Johnson won the girls’ triple jump event with a career best leap as the Lady Panthers finished ninth at the Group 1A Regional Championships held on May 27 in Charles City.

Johnson went a distance of 36’6½” in the triple jump to win the event. She also placed second in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles (16.29) and third in the long jump (15’1”).

The Lady Panthers scored 34 points at the event to earn their ninth-place finish. Middlesex’s girls captured the regional title with 127.5 points. The Charles City boys did not participate in the regional championships.
