Johnson repeats as Class 1 state runner-up in girls’ 100-meter hurdles

Charles City’s Derequa Johnson repeated as the Class 1A State Runner-Up in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles.
Johnson ran a time of 16.42 to earn the silver medal in the event, finishing behind Destinee Bullock of Brunswick who clocked a time of 15.26.
Johnson also added a fifth-place finish in the girls’ triple jump with a mark of 35’2” and placed 22nd in the girls’ long jump with a distance of 14’0½.”
Johnson, the lone representative for the Lady Panthers, scored 12 points to place Charles City 18th at the meet. Cumberland’s Lady Dukes won the girls’ competition with 60 points, while the boys’ competition was won by Auburn.
