Amazon Inc. will have another place of residency: New Kent County.

In a June 16 press release from New Kent County, Amazon Inc. announced plans to construct a one million-plus size distribution center at the New Kent Center site. The site is located just off Exit 211 on Interstate 64.

“New Kent County staff, the Economic Development Authority, and the Board of Supervisors have worked diligently over the past several years to draw major players such as AutoZone, Target, and now Amazon to our community,” said New Kent County Board of Supervisors Chairman Ron Stiers. “This is another major win for New Kent County business.”

The property was purchased from Matan Companies and will be constructed adjacent to the AutoZone facility. A tentative date for the completion of the facility is late 2027.

“This facility will bring good jobs with comprehensive benefits to the region, and we’re excited about the opportunity to grow alongside New Kent County,” commented Jonathan Greeley, head of Economic Development for Amazon in Virginia. “We’re grateful to the New Kent County Board of Supervisors, the Economic Development Authority, and the entire community for their support in making this project a reality.
