Trio of men stipulate to evidence of possessing illegal gambling devices in New Kent

Three men stipulated to evidence of possessing illegal gambling devices in New Kent County.

Salim S. Damani of Glen Allen, Sanam Singh Ahluwala of Glen Allen, and Samir Narendra Patel of Williams, all stipulated to the evidence on two misdemeanor counts of possession of illegal gambling devices as part of Monday morning proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court. As part of an agreement, three additional counts of possession of illegal devices as well as a lone count of continuous illegal gambling were dropped against Damani, seven additional charges of possession of illegal devices and a charge of continuous illegal gambling were dropped against Ahluwala, and two additional counts of possession of illegal gambling devices and one count of continuous illegal gambling were dropped against Patel.

In a summary of evidence provided by New Kent Commonwealth’s Attorney Scott Renick, in Aug. 2025, three joint operations between the Virginia State Police and New Kent Sheriff’s Office took place. During the operation, gaming machines belonging to Ahluwalia were discovered with $12,169 plus multiple CPUs (Central Processing Units) recovered. At Lanexa Plaza, which is owned by Damani, yielded the recovery of $655 and CPUs. At Sunny’s Mini-mart, under the operation of Patel, $8,779 was recovered from the machines. All three defendants stipulated to the evidence.

Under the agreement, all of the money and equipment was forfeited to the Commonwealth of Virginia. All of the cases have been carried out until July 12, 2027 for deferred disposition.
