Letter to the editor: Thanks Delegate Peace for service
Not every elected official feels the need or requirement to be responsive to their constituency. Mr. Cantor fell into this category and on June 10 his voters reminded him that all politics are local.
He lost his primary race by a significant amount due to several factors, but clearly one was lack of attention to the voters in his district. Mr. Cantor could have learned much from New Kent Delegate, Chris Peace. Delegate Peace knows who elected him and serves accordingly.
I’d like to thank Delegate Peace for his conservative voting record, especially his recent vote on the budget that held the line on the Affordable Care Act. I have contacted his office on numerous occasions. He listens, responds promptly, answers my questions and respects my opinion.
Unlike many politicians who want to tell you how it is, Delegate Peace actually listens. If you’ve not been to one of his town hall meetings, you owe it to yourself to go. If you have an issue on any aspect of state government, contact him.
New Kent is fortunate to have a delegate like Chris Peace. He will have my support in the future.
