By Community Member | July 20, 2014 3:40 pm

The Chickahominy Indian Tribe will hosts its 63rd annual Fall Festival and Pow-wow beginning Saturday, Sept. 27 and concluding Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Chickahominy Tribal Grounds in Charles City.

Guests are invited to join in with the festivities to experience opportunities that include interacting with Eastern Woodlands’ Indian culture tribes, one of the first groups to make contact with the English in 1607. Other activities include Native American dancers, drummers, singers, and cultural demonstrations. Food, drinks, jewelry, pottery, and other craftwork will be for sale as well.

The grounds will open at 10 a.m. on both days, with grand entry ceremonies starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. The event is free to the public, but donations are accepted. Also, no alcohol, drugs, or pets are allowed on the Pow-Wow grounds.

For more information on the event, contact Ross Stewart at 557-3775 or by email at r-stewart@cox.net. You may also visit the tribe’s website at www.chickahominytribe.org.
