Members of the New Kent Falcons midget team converge on a Titans player and forces him down to the ground at last Saturday’s homecoming.

New Kent’s Falcons posted victories in all four contests and honored the 1989 MYFL Junior Championship during last Saturday’s homecoming festivities against the visiting Tri-Rivers Titans.

The Falcons honored the championship team on its 25th anniversary as part of the homecoming ceremonies. That team was coached by Gil Bowman Sr., Chris Vincent Sr., Jamie Brown, and Wade Berry.

Action turned to the field, with the Flag team (3-2) opening the slate of games with a 26-6 win over the Titans. The Junior team followed suit, remaining undefeated (5-0) with a 56-6 victory. Hayden Smith led the Juniors, tossing touchdown passes to Lance Alfonso, Nathan Thornton, and Jordan Creed, while teammates Lawrence Porter and Nick Donathan added scores on the ground.

The Midgets used a defensive presence to top the Titans 31-19 in the third game of the day. Jay Poole returned an interception for a touchdown to start the scoring. Jaylen Akrie-Williams and Kimonte Brown’s rushing attack helped up the Falcons record to 3-2. In the final contest, the Peewees started fast with a 63-yard touchdown run from Thomas Wilson on way to a 27-0 shutout of the Titans. Taylor Bey contributed to the scoring, helping the team improve to 3-2.

This year’s homecoming kings and queens are: Flags- Queen Haylee Burch and King Adam Moore; Pee Wee- Queen Avie Moore and King Payton Williamson; Midget- Queen Hallie Allison and King Tyler Nutall; JV Junior- Queen Sadie Call and King Brayden Kelly; Junior- Queen Yaz’mine Brown and King Nathan Thornton.
