Allen named All-Atlantic region in volleyball
UVA-Wise sophomore outside hitter Karley Allen, a former standout at New Kent High School, has been named to the Daktronics Atlantic Region volleyball first team.
An All-Mountain East Conference first team selection, she led the conference in kills with 394, averaging 4.19 kills per set. She also averaged 3.71 digs per set for a conference sixth best.
Allen’s kills per set average led the Atlantic Region and ranked 13th nationally. She is the only non-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference player to make the region first team.
Her 394 kills are third best for a single season in school history. Over two seasons, she has 780 kills and 658 digs, and is on track to become the first UVA-Wise player to eclipse the 1,000 mark in both categories. The Cavaliers finished 14-14 with Allen recording double-doubles in 15 of those matches.
During the upcoming Christmas break, Allen will be conducting two volleyball camps in conjunction with New Kent Parks and Recreation.
