George Kelly Dixon
George Kelly Dixon, formerly of Mechanicsville, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at the age of 42 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Ga., following an extended illness.
He was born in Decatur, Ga. on Aug. 13, 1970, the son of Beth Wilkes Dixon and Emory D. Dixon Jr. of Greensboro, Ga. He worked as an environmental consultant for Land Management Group in Wilmington, N.C. Kelly loved fishing, photography, astronomy, hiking, camping, playing guitar and spending time with his boys.
Kelly is survived by his parents, Beth Wilkes Dixon and Emory D. Dixon Jr. of Greensboro, Ga., two cherished sons, Gavin Wilkes Dixon and Owen Kelly Dixon, and their mother, Laura Rader-Dixon, all of Quinton; three brothers, Emory D. Dixon III and wife Ruth of Buford, Ga., Scott Wilkes Dixon and wife Vickie of Denville, N.J., and Alex Leon Dixon and wife Julie of Lagrange, Ga.; brother-in-law Jeffrey Rader and wife Robin, in-laws Mary and Jim Rader, and seven nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Nov. 8 at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church in Eatonton, Ga. with the Rev. David F. Ridenhour officiating.
