Man accepts plea deal in NK Circuit Court after assault in Pilot
A man who assaulted his former girlfriend at the Pilot Travel Center in the Talleysville area of New Kent accepted a plea agreement during Monday afternoon New Kent Circuit Court proceedings.
Xavier Tyler Slayton, 20 (address unlisted), entered guilty pleas to one amended charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct (originally abduction) and one charge of misdemeanor assault and battery.
In a summary of evidence, last June 26, Slayton and his former girlfriend were traveling from Richmond to Norfolk. Making a stop at the travel plaza, the two got into an altercation when the victim indicated she wanted to return home. When Slayton refused, the victim went into the women’s restroom where the defendant tried to extract her and take her to his car. Pilot employees called authorities and Slayton was arrested.
Under the plea agreement, he received a 12-month jail sentence on the assault and battery conviction with all but six months suspended. All 12 months on the disorderly conduct charge were suspended.
