Eight indicted in New Kent Circuit Court

Eight individuals received indictments handed down during Jan. 12 proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court.

Suspects indicted include:

–Durneil Lamont Bryant Sr., 36, of the 1200 block of Oakland Road, Richmond, on one count each of fraud and obtaining money by false pretenses. According to the indictment, Bryant cashed a $300 check at a BB&T bank that came from C&F Bank last Oct. 3.

–Laura Lee Carter, 33, of 17 Woodsman Road, Hampton, on one count each of forgery, uttering, forging of a public document, and misdemeanor false identification. On Mar. 5, 2014, Carter allegedly provided false information to an officer during a traffic stop.

–James Michael Devine, 53, of the 400 block of Washington Avenue, Salem, Ohio, on one count each of DUI (third offense) and DUI while driving revoked. The alleged offenses occurred last Oct. 11.

–Matthew Giles, 26, of the 2700 block of Azalea Garden Road, Apt. B8, Norfolk, on a single count of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer. The offense allegedly occurred last Sept. 15.

–Darwin Noble, 72, of the 8100 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike, Mechanicsville, on two counts of aggravated sexual battery with a minor and one count of forcible sodomy. The alleged offenses occurred last June 6.

–Jeffrey Lynn Smith, 48, of the 14000 block of Stage Road, Lanexa, on one count each of DUI (third offense) and felonious driving while revoked. The alleged offenses occurred last Aug. 15.

–Isaac DeJesus Tobar-Morales, 27, of the 700 block of Burgess Street, Williamsburg, on one count of felony eluding police. The alleged offense occurred last Oct. 17.

–Lamar Obryan Wallace, 26, of the 9000 block of Merrimac Trail, Williamsburg, on two counts each of obtaining money by false pretenses, uttering, and forgery. According to the document, last Apr. 14 Wallace cashed checks valued at $645.80 and $610.32 that did belong to him at a Bank of America.
