Festival donations

Melanie King (center) presents checks for $1,130 each to Michelle Philbates of the New Kent Humane Society and Cpl. Kevin Watkins representing the New Kent Animal Shelter. The checks represent 25 percent of the proceeds raised from last August’s Jenna Bash Festival at Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Barhamsville. Since the event’s inception, $9,437 has been contributed to the society and shelter.
