Letter to the Editor: Praises job done by CC animal control officer
Frank Bates is well-known as the most erudite and proficient supervisor for Animal Control that Charles City could ever need. He’s tough on crime. Mr. Bates is a law enforcement officer who promptly responds to calls and expedites official business.
Ill treatment and gross neglect of farm animals or pets keeps Mr. Bates routinely busy. Violation of laws takes an aggressive, uncompromising, and authoritative official who gets the job done without partiality or bias. Mr. Bates is honest and above board. No matter who you are Mr. Bates expects adherence to laws. A weak leader causes an increase in crime. Mr. Bates’ objective is a safe and secure community for all.
Some of the most hideous and complicated cases of mistreatment of animals are a common agenda for our Animal Control supervisor. He is well placed and admirably competent to handle these convoluted cases which require specialized skill and experience. It is a demanding job and there is no one else in Charles City who could hack it.
There is a zero tolerance in Charles City for the cruelty or mismanagement of animals. Mr. Bates requires every citizen of this county to obey the laws or accept the penalties. Too many animals suffer as an upshot to their owners’ neglect. The euthanization rate is a blemish on those who refuse to properly care for their animals.
We should be proud that we have a law enforcement officer in Charles City who cares enough about the citizens to deter mayhem, cruelty and unrest. He is a strong leader with allegiance and integrity. Mr. Frank Bates deserves our esteem and our thanks.
