Hope from Charles City

Former Charles City Elementary School music teacher Dr. Jocelyn G. Henry-Whitehead (center, back row) is surrounded by students and staff from Charles City County schools, as well as representatives from the children’s Bible study group at Samaria Baptist Church, in a celebration and preparation for her missionary trip to Rwanda on Feb. 15. Her effort created a cross-curricular project involving high school students in sociology, art, and journalism. The middle school’s Crafts Club created more than 200 HOPE bracelets for Henry-Whitehead to take with her on her travels to Africa. She is part of a group that left Virginia on Feb. 18.
